Product Description: Clavulanic acid is a beta-lactamase inhibitor that decreases resistance. Amoxicillin is an antibiotic. It works by preventing the formation of the bacterial protective covering which is essential for the survival of bacteria. The combination of this medicine helps to fight against the infection that is caused by bacteria. This is not effective against viral infections like the common cold. The medicine works by killing the harmful bacteria that cause infections.
Pharmacological Actions: It is a combination of two medicines - Amoxicillin and Clavulanic acid. Amoxicillin is a penicillin derivative that has a bactericidal effect by killing the bacterial cell wall which is needed for the multiplication of bacteria. Clavulanic acid is a beta-lactamase inhibitor that helps to decrease the resistance and increase the activity of amoxicillin against bacteria.
USES: It is a penicillin-type of antibiotic that helps your body fight infections caused by bacteria. It is used to treat infections of the lungs (e.g., pneumonia), ear, nasal sinus, urinary tract, skin, and soft tissue. It will not work for viral infections such as the common cold.
Side Effects:
Common side effects are as-
1. Vomiting
2. Nausea
3. Diarrhea
4. Pain, Swelling or Redness at injection site
