Cefiset

Chemical Composition: Each 5ml reconstituted suspension contains:-

Anhydrous cefixime equivalent to Cefixime USP 50mg

MODE OF ADMINISTRATION: For Oral Use Only.

Product Description: Cefixime is a cephalosporin antibiotics, kills or stops the growth of bacteria causing the infection. It is not effective against infections caused by viruses.

Pharmacological Actions: Cefixime works by interfering with the third and final step of cell wall synthesis in bacteria. The Penicillin Binding Proteins (PBPs) present in the bacterial cell wall play a crucial role in the synthesis and assembly of the cell wall in bacteria. Cefixime binds to these PBPs and eventually prevents the transpeptidation step of the peptidoglycan synthesis. This leads to the death of the bacteria that cause infection and prevents their growth.

USES: Cefixime is used to treat bacterial infections affecting the lungs, throat, and urinary tract - the kidneys, bladder, ureters, or urethra. It is also used to treat a sexually transmitted infection caused by Neisseria gonorrhoea bacteria that infects both men and women.
