Product Description: Cefpodoxime proxetil is a third generation cephalosporin antibiotic with a broad spectrum of antibacterial activity. It works by stopping the growth of bacteria. This antibiotic treats only bacterial infection. It will not work for any viral infections (such as flu, common cold).
Pharmacological Actions:
Cefpodoxime proxetil inhibits the synthesis of cell wall. The active metabolite of cefpodoxime binds preferentially to penicillin binding protein, which inhibits production of peptidoglycan, the primary constituent of bacterial cell walls.
USES: It is effective in infections of the lungs (eg. pneumonia), urinary tract, ear, nasal sinus, throat, and skin.
Side Effects:
Common side effects are-
1. Nausea
2. Vomiting
3. Diarrhea
4. Stomach pain
5. Headache
6. Swelling
7. Itching
8. White vaginal discharge
HOW TO USE?
Swallow the tablet as a whole after disperse with water and swallow the solution; do not crush, chew or break it.
Note: Take Cefpodoxime at least 1 hour before or 2 hours after taking such medications.
