Product Description: Cefixime belongs to the third generation class of medicines known as Cephalosporin antibiotics. Clavulanic Acid is a beta-lactamase inhibitor which reduce resistance and enhances the activity of Cefixime against bacteria. This medicine kills and stops the growth of bacteria causing the infection. It is not effective against infections caused by viruses.
Pharmacological Actions:
Cefixime + Clavulanic Acid is a combination of two medicines: Cefixime and Clavulanic Acid. Cefixime is an antibiotic. It works by preventing the formation of the bacterial protective covering which is essential for the survival of bacteria. Clavulanic Acid is a beta-lactamase inhibitor which reduces resistance and enhances the activity of Cefixime against bacteria.
USES: Cefixime + Clavulanic Acid is used to treat severe bacterial infections of the urinary tract, ear, lungs, throat, tonsil and skin or infections like typhoid fever or gonorrhoea.
Side Effects:
Common side effects are-
1. Nausea
2. Vomiting
3. Diarrhea
4. Abdominal pain
5. Heartburn
HOW TO USE?
Swallow it as a whole with a glass of water; do not chew, or crush the tablet.
