Product Description:

Cefixime is a cephalosporin antibiotics, kills or stops the growth of bacteria causing the infection. It is not effective against infections caused by viruses.

Pharmacological Action :

Cefixime works by interfering with the third and final step of cell wall synthesis in bacteria. The Penicillin Binding Proteins (PBPs) present in the bacterial cell wall play a crucial role in the synthesis and assembly of the cell wall in bacteria. Cefixime binds to these PBPs and eventually prevents the transpeptidation step of the peptidoglycan synthesis. This leads to the death of the bacteria that cause infection and prevents their growth.

Uses:

Cephalexin is used to treat infections caused by bacteria, including upper respiratory infections, ear infections, skin infections, urinary tract infections and bone infections.
